Tim was born and
raised in Alaska, and came to Washington seeking a music degree. After 4
years of school, he formed a band with some other misplaced Alaskans,
and returned to Alaska to play in fine establishments whose decor was
usually marked by bullet holes in the backstage walls, sod grass roofs,
and sawdust on the floors. As hard as it was to give that up, the band
eventually got a gig in Hawaii, playing in the only rock club in
Waikiki.
From there the band
hit the road, heading for Japan and Korea, and then back to play o n
the other Hawaiian islands. After a year away, the band returned to
Washington, and played the local club circuit.
Tim eventually left
that group, and joined the Razors – a local Tacoma band, and it was
during his time with that band that he met Glenn Eagleson. A few years
later, Glenn called Tim, and asked if he was available to join The
Boinkers, a group that also included Jeff Crane on drums. They jammed
together for about six months when the other founding member left the
group abruptly. Not wanting to stop the momentum, the band sought out a
new guitar player, and that was what brought Jon Ecklund to the group.
This permutation of the group evolved into a band that mixed their own
original music with covers tunes, and played together for about 3 years.
After leaving the
Boinkers, Tim played with a number of groups, including the Bush Pilots
and Metropolis. He and his wife Cindy have made a special effort to keep
in contact with their many musical friends by hosting Grahamstock, an
annual music fest, that has featured many local bands, and it was there
that the one-time Boinkers reunited.
This reunion
eventually lead them to get back together, write some new songs, and put
together this disk --- which we hope was worth the wait!
